The debris in the chamber was later removed by volunteers, but has returned.
The water in the chamber is much deeper than it looks due to a silt dam at the lower end of the lock.

The stones affected by vegetation in the right wall are visible as are the upper gate pockets and the wall where the canal floor changes elevation at the upper end. The material in front of that wall is all silt that needs removal.
