Visitor Centers & Museums

Throughout the Blackstone Valley, there are several Visitor Centers and Museums.   Some of these from North to South are:

1) Blackstone Canal Historical Museum, Crompton Collective at Crompton Place, 138 Green Street, Worcester, MA. Canal Exhibits

2) Audubon Society Nature Center, Worcester, MA.   Follow signs from Rte. US 20 east of Rte 146.   Visitor Center, Nature Exhibits

3) Riverbend Farm Visitors Center at the Blackstone River & Canal Heritage State Park, 287 Oak St., Uxbridge, MA  From the center of Uxbridge at the intersection of Rtes 122 and 16, follow Rte 16 east under the railroad bridge.  After a few bends in the road, turn left on to Oak Street at the Catholic Church.  At the high school athletic fields, follow Oak Street to the right.  The visitor center is in the red barn on the right.  Parking, rest rooms, information, exhibits on the canal and farms, watered canal, walking trails, events.

4) Museum of Work and Culture, Woonsocket, RI,  At Market Square.   Exhibits on mill work and labor, rest rooms, information.

5) Kelly House, Lincoln, RI   From the junction of I-295 and Rte. 122 just east of the river, go south on Rte. 122 to just past the intersection with Rte. 116.  Turn right on to Stone Hill Road and go downhill to end.  Turn right on First St. to parking area at end.  Walk across river on bikeway bridge.   Kelly House is white building to left.  Exhibits on the evolution of transportation in the valley, watered section of the canal, several miles of paved bikeway.

6) Pawtucket Visitor Center & Slater Museum, Pawtucket, RI   At junction Rte. 15 & Roosevelt Ave.  Visitor Center, rest rooms, gift shop, Slater Museum across street.
